Evion Free form, fantasy genre roleplaying game. |
| | General Rules and Information | 7/29/2007, 6:32 pm by Admin | Rules:
First, let’s talk about how to function on this site.
Step 1: Post your character profile in the registry.
Step 2: Play.
And… that’s it.
The reason I ask for everyone to post their characters in the registry is because this makes it easy for everybody to see what kind of characters you’ve got. It also removes the need to post an entire character sheet in every single dang thread/topic you join.
Every single character you use, however, must have a profile in the registry. There is no reason I should even try making up some kind of punishment for people who don’t do this because it’s a very simple thing to do. But if it becomes a problem, I’ll deal with it how I see fit. Please don’t make this a problem.
Characters:
No overpowered characters, please. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should any character have the ability to destroy anyone in one hit—and certainly not have the ability to annihilate the world. Extremely skilled or specialized characters are allowed, but they are not allowed to approach the line of invincibility. This rule applies: No matter how strong you think you are, there’s always someone in the next town who’s better than you. Only Admin is allowed to use godlike characters—for obvious reasons.
How do you know when your character is too strong? Well that’s a judgment call. Please use common sense. If I still read your character as too strong, I will ask you to please tone it down. Granted, as characters are played longer than others, they may be more powerful—and that’s why this rule is slightly flexible. If there is a question about whether or not someone’s character is too strong, it is recommended that you don’t fight or argue. Bring it to me and I will decide by my own judgment. If you don’t like my judgment, I’m sorry. You may feel free to try and discuss it with me further, after all, you might have a point that I may agree with, but I will not tolerate rudeness.
We focus on role play more than battles anyway.
But when battles occur, this rule always applies: you may not take control of another player’s character—only your own. This applies even out of battles. Your control over your attack stops at the tip of the other character’s nose. They choose how to handle it from there as long as their actions also stop at the tip of your character’s nose. That’s how it goes. Also, no auto hits. An example of an auto hit: Jim smacks Joe in the face. An example of how to write it better: Jim attempts to smack Joe in the face.
That really should be all the explaining necessary for this.
You may notice that the map of Evion is largely blanked out. That is because it has not been fully explored yet. Even the continent that we do see has not been fully explored. There are more countries. They just have not been discovered or founded yet.
The reason I have left it so blank is so that if anyone has a country they’d like to add to the map, they may submit it to me for approval. The same goes for Races. To submit a new country or race, I need to know its general location/climate/region/attributes and any and all other information you can give me about it. Once I approve it, it will be placed (this can be in explored territory or unexplored) and/or otherwise added to the world.
You may have as many characters as you wish, but only one account, please. However every character must be present in the character registry before they are introduced in any threads/topics.
You must post an entrance post and an exit post in each thread you join.
One thread per character at a time please.
No double posting. Double posting is… posting twice in a row. In case you didn’t know that already, which you probably did. If you have to post two posts to fit in all of your text, you’ve probably written too much. Please edit.
Post Length: there is no minimum as long as you give others something to go off of. If you must have some kind of minimum, I'd say about a paragraph would be ideal. We don't do turns here, either. If you have something you can react to, then react to it. However, if you're having a battle, turns do apply to some degree. You must wait for the person you're battling to respond. See no double posting rule. If they do not respond in 6 days, you may skip them.
Limit OOC comments. And properly label them. ((OOC: HAHA this is an awesome example.))
Keep IC IC and OOC OOC. NO OOC LEAK! NO METAGAMING! NO GOD MODDING!
NPCs must be approved to be played before they are played by non moderators.
NO FLAMING! Flamers will be banned for their immaturity.
Cursing policy. NO OOC Cursing. IC cursing is fine as long as it is within the bounds of what your character will do. Keep everything PG13 please. Now I understand that eventually there will be instances where two characters will have… ahem… romantic interludes… with each other. And so, all sexual relations between characters are to be handled like this: Romantic role play up until we get the point, INSERT TIME LAPSE, continue AFTER the deed has been done. …Or you could just have a pillow fight. Sexually explicit descriptions will not be appreciated or tolerated. This is not that kind of site. Please go elsewhere for that.
On a similar note, Rape is a serious crime—it is not an act of love. We do not under any circumstances condone such activities… but admittedly, it does add a certain level of drama to the stories. If your character is to rape another, you must have permission of the other character’s player and you must follow the sexual activity rule stated above.
Related to that, there is one more thing. Character killing is allowed. However, I encourage you only to do it if the other character’s player says it’s okay. That way, we don’t have anybody taking offense, or arguing, or hating each other all over a game. Once a character is dead, he or she is dead. There are resurrection spells, but they are not found in normal characters. In order to resurrect a character, you must role play them being brought to one of the NPCs that have such abilities and getting said NPCs to do it. This is so that nobody’s character gets resurrected without permission. We can’t go having everybody that dies be brought back to life, after all.
NO LEECHING! Leeches will be punished. Leeching is evil. Leeching is the act of trying to get players from one site to go participate in another. Thou shalt not Leech.
