Find Information: Luzu does not write books about it. He’s busy using it. Go find him for information. Otherwise, medical records that may have been kept by others who used this method of healing could possibly contain some information. However chances of finding a textbook in circulation on the subject are rare since Healers of this school generally tend to want to oversee any learning of the subject to prevent widespread malpractice.

Description: Aside from the extremely long name, Hemotransiamelioration, or Blood Healing, as it’s more commonly known as, is an art of healing or otherwise improving or enhancing other living things. As its name indicates, it is described as healing magic transported through the blood. This form of magic is most accepted as “Natural healing magic.” And when used properly, can be used to strengthen other living creatures and to harm those that cannot seem to make up their minds which they want to be: living or dead. It has no effect on things that are already dead.

Blood Healers send life energy from their own bodies into the wounded to cause their injuries to heal at a high rate of speed. A skilled healer of this art can reduce the appearance of scarring as the wound is healed. Most Blood Healers supplement their art with conventional doctoring and study medicine so that they may conserve their energy and treat more people.

Most people who practice Hemotransiamelioration have related their own energy with the Life domain by spending a great deal of time in areas where there are high concentrations of its energies. Rarely though, there are those born with the relation already established—As Luzu Elensar was. To be a Hemotransiameliorist, be born with or somehow establish a natural relation to the Life domain’s energies. Relation meaning, the energies in the healer’s body are like the energies in the Life domain and can easily transact with each other.

Unicorns are said by Blood Healers to be the epitome of their craft and sometimes use them as symbols over their buildings and on their medical kits.

There are a few different ways of using Hemotransiamelioration and few of them require actually removing the user’s blood. One is by simply touching the injured person with both hands making skin to skin contact—over the heart or liver, sometimes one hand over each organ for a faster effect, and using this link to send concentrated living energy to the other body.

There is another technique which is for more seriously injured, or for multiple patients. The healer lays down (less dangerous than standing, as there is a risk of fainting) with the injured and sends the energy streaming out of their bodies. Anyone within a radius of 10 feet of the healer can feel its effects but for best results, recipients of this treatment should be within 2 feet. These numbers are average but may change according to the solidity of the healer’s connection with the life domain and also with his/her skill level and talent.

A third method is more preparatory. The healer makes what is called a “blank” potion. Blank potions are about as effective as water until the healer infuses it with their own life energy (or if any other mage infuses it with any other effect). Drinking an infused potion carries the same effect of healing as the healer would create had they done it themselves. The problem with using blanks is: if any other magical effects are happening nearby, the potion can be flawed and not work properly. If made prior to infusion, the potions must be kept in a space devoid of magic use that might taint them. And after infusion, they must be kept in a similar space for two days or so in order to let the spell set without being tainted.

Another way requires the healer to draw out his/her own blood and put it into the body of the wounded person. This method is used mainly for those with disease as it is most effective at treating illness. The Blood Healer must be able to sacrifice blood to begin with. That means, if the healer has not had anything to eat that day, he/she will probably faint more easily. If they are wounded and have lost a great deal of blood, more blood loss would certainly harm the healer as well. Also, they must avoid backwards contamination (backwash) of their own blood.
Meaning: the only mingling of blood that should occur is the healer’s blood into the blood of the patient. Not the other way around. Since this technique is used mainly for diseased patients, it wouldn’t do to get diseased blood into the healer’s own body.

There are other techniques in this school of magic as well, but these are the main ones. A Blood Healer can regain their strength and energy more quickly than most people because of the relation to the Life domain. Since their and its energy is practically identical or at least very similar, their bodies tend to absorb it (like a sponge) directly from the domain. It takes 6 hours of resting for the average Blood Healer to be ready to go again.
